Daniel Egnéus

Book illustrations, interior design concepts and visual arts for public and private spaces are among the many and varied avenues of creativity that Daniel Egnéus explores as an artist.

Born in Sweden but now residing in Italy, Daniel followed no formal training. But his innate talent has developed over the years, influenced by his experiences of living in many different places - Prague, Stockholm, London, Bologna, Rome and Berlin. Currently he lives and works in Milan.

Daniel’s artworks have featured in campaigns by major companies such as Pepsi Cola and Häagen-Dazs. Drawing inspiration from his surroundings and even daydreams, he believes his art and everyday life are inseparable.

For lavie & belle, Daniel has created a picture entitled ‘St Maria and St Elisabetta’. Inspired by the biblical story, it captures the tender moment when the two women, who are to play such a significant part in each other’s lives, meet for the first time.

“I have always been touched by the story of Maria (Mary) who will be the mother of Jesus Christ travelling through the desert to meet the older Elisabetta (Elisabeth) who is pregnant with Giovanni Battista (John the Baptist),” says Daniel. “It’s that profound moment of meeting a special friend for the first time - knowing that your lives will now be connected forever.”
