Gordon Wiebe
Collages are a favourite medium for Gordon Wiebe who lives and works as an artist and illustrator in Toronto, Canada – as are the distinctive, elongated figures that appear in many of his pictures.
“To me, the different scraps and pieces that I bring together to create a collage are like collaborators – their contours and colours influence my decision about how each picture will develop and take shape, and what it will ultimately look like.
Gordon’s work has featured in many international magazines and newspapers as well as in advertising campaigns and artists’ anthologies.
Vibrant and colourful, the illustration that Gordon has created for lavie & belle combines smooth figurative curves, with bold geometric shapes and more naturalistic elements.
“Friendship is revealed in my picture as a shared phenomenon, something that needs to be nurtured and cared for, multi-faceted and constantly evolving – as depicted by the central flower icon,” he says.
