Maciek Kryzwicki

Maciek is an award winning graphic illustrator from Poland. He works primarily in advertising but has applied his creative talents in areas as diverse as architecture and sculpture.

With a distinctive style that brims with energy and vigour, Maciek admits to being a keen observer of people and the minute details of the world around him. The treasury of pictures, images and fragments that he encounters in his everyday life ignite his imagination.

For lavie & belle, Maciek has created a striking surrealist artwork entitled 'Softcat team'. In exploring the theme of friendship, he has chosen to present the notion of opposites - male, female; soft, hard; tough, gentle. Completing the picture is a smiling sun, with a characteristic Maciek twist - it is upside down!

"Friendships transcend differences as in the attraction of opposites," says Maciek. "Like a soft, fat cat, friendship allows them to co-exist in harmony. Friendship can spring from love or even hate. It can sometimes end like a melancholic night in a bar. But ultimately, friendship is our shelter, a place of last resort."
